I think Leah and Michael both have it right (it MUST be a Friday :). 

Alas, one of the most relevant words in your question is "CUSTOMER", which 
reminds me of the usual "Two Rules" of business.  (In EDI, it's often hard to 
suppress the urge to scream at the top of one's lungs, "BUT THEY'RE **STILL** 
WRONG!") 

I do like Leah's idea of "accidentally" sending it as a test before you make 
one-off changes.  I can't imagine it would blow up their system.  I have a 
feeling they'll just ignore it.  But you should definitely do that BEFORE 
asking about this because then they can say--we TOLD you not to send it. 

But please tell us the outcome of this so we can all either shout in victory or 
laugh at your pain. :D
