One of the notable gaps in the EDK2 environment is build support for the UEFI
HII concepts for fonts, strings (with fonts), images and animations. There are
probably 20 press releases in the past year where people are talking about the
usage of these. However, there is no way to create an EDK2-based driver which
plays in these solutions. More importantly (as an IBV) I don't want to
implement a solution, only to have it stomped on by a future EDK2 contribution.
The .UNI spec (in the EDK2 build document) describes some font-related tags,
but is unimplemented. The .VFR document supports IMAGE_TOKEN (but not
ANIMATION_TOKEN), but the build tools don't provide an analog to .UNI for
images or animations.
Are there draft specification updates from Intel or others that could be shared
in order to give comment prior to code being committed? Frankly code-commit is
too late because it creates a de-facto standard.
