Mike,

Well aware of that, it was my first reference. However what I'm noticing is 
that 
the build system does not do what the guide says, specifically that supplying 
PCI_COMPRESS is having no effect and the ROM is not actually being compressed.

Since no objection to my explanation was found I will file a bug in trac on 
this.
