Vadim Rozenfeld's QXL WDDM driver now works in Windows Server 2012 even when the latter runs on OVMF. It has no VGA BIOS dependencies and it supports S3. (IOW with this driver OVMF win2012 guests too can be suspended and resumed.) Another benefit is the runtime video mode selection; the user is no longer restricted to OVMF's PlatformDxe.
Start qemu with "-device qxl-vga,revision=4" at least (which revision is the default in current qemu).
