Note that the grub2 patch that ultimately fixed the problem is different
from what I may have suggested in the thread.

The function you tried to modify (grub_efinet_findcards()) just collects
the available network interfaces (ie. SNP instances). The patch
referenced above doesn't modify that function; it changes
grub_efi_net_config_real() instead.
