Dear readers of edstat and sci.stat.edu,
I apologize for sending yet another message about the administration of
the list; I hope this is the last. As you know, we have had a problem
with complaints to the NC State postmaster about occasional spam
messages on the list. For a week, we tried limiting postings to edstat
subscribers in an attempt to eliminate spam. This caused the
unintended effect that postings to the sci.stat.edu newsgroup were not
forwarded to the edstat list.
The NC State postmaster has agreed to give us another chance, and we
have re-opened the list to nonsubscribers. A footer addressing the
issue will appear at the bottom of all edstat messages, and we have
included a discussion of the issue on the list web page at
http://jse.stat.ncsu.edu
I am very grateful to Don Macnaughton for composing the new footer and
preparing the new version of the web page.
We are on probation; if there are further complaints to the
postmaster, the list will be discontinued. Please do not send
complaints of any kind to the postmaster!
