Hi --
I'm actually working on two different versions of SPSS (depending on what
faculty advisor's computer I'm working on) 8.0 or 10.0 (for Windows).
I have a dataset composed of subordinate survey data; one variable,
supernum, refers to the id number of that subordinate's supervisor (so there
would be multiple cases with a particular supervisor's unique ID) -- this is
my break variable. My ultimate goal is to calculate the within-group
interrater reliability for variable x --
Rwg = 1- (variance x/ EU^2) (in this case EU^2 will always equal 6.66)
Normally, this would be a simple deal using the COMPUTE command; the problem
is that I need Rwg calculated for each supervisor ID (not every supervisor
has the same number of subordinates). The IF subcommand of the COMPUTE only
allows me to specify a range, not a break variable, so that doesn't work.
The means procedure can calculate the variances by a break variable, (which
would allow me from there to use the compute command), but I can't get it to
save any of that output as a variable -- I only get a report.
Is there any way to perform a calculation for groups of cases, breaking out
the groups by a break variable? Please HELP!!!
Thanks in advance
