I deleted the two questions about split half coefficients and an online
forum for survey writers, because I cannot answer them. But if you don't
already have the Alreck and Settle book, go out and buy it now. It gives a
lot of useful and practical advice for someone putting together a survey.

Alreck, Pamela L. and Settle, Robert B. (1995) The Survey Research Handbook,
Second Edition. Guidelines and Strategies for Conducting a Survey. Chicago,
IL: Irwin Professional Publishing. ISBN: 0-7863-0358-1. For the beginning
student. A very practical reference with a lot of emphasis on planning.
