Assessments in Educational Reform: Both Means and Ends

A two-day conference of interest to educators who need to
use information effectively for school reform.
The Department of Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation
(EDMS), of the University of Maryland, College Park in
conjunction with the Maryland Assessment Research Center
offers this opportunity to enhance the utility of
assessments in school reform.

Dates & Times: June 5, 2000, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (lunch
provided) June 6, 2000, 8:30 am - noon
Presentations: Prominent speakers will visualize effective
ways assessments can be instrumental in effecting positive
change in educational institutions.
Purpose: To provide an opportunity for the educational
community to explore ways to use assessment for school
improvement. The conference is also intended to honor Dr.
William D. Schafer, who is retiring after a distinguished
career as an academic and as a state assessment
administrator.

* Your registration fee covers the cost of all
materials and refreshments at breaks. Participants are
responsible for meals and lodging. Monday lunch is

Cancellation Policy:

your course fee less $50.00 will be refunded if notice of
cancellation is received at least two weeks before the
