As someone living in the U.S. I'm surprised that over 50% thought the
election was fair. From the media we are getting a picture that
indicates that all Gore supporters thought that the election was unfair
and the Bush supporters thought that it was fair.
Gore supporters are demanding selective recounts in order to keep the
election fair and Bush supporters are opposing the recounts in order to
keep the election fair.
We need to keep these responses in that context. If you had asked this
same question a few days before the election, I expect that the results
would have been different.
