As I understand it, the postmaster is not complaining about the spam. He/She is complaining about the nasty messages that come from list users because THEY are upset over spam. As I said before, if we can't treat people with respect, that is our problem. Let's not blame the postmaster for not tolerating our lack of manners.

the postmaster is NOT jackie but, rather, whomever maintains the lists at north carolina state university ...
jackie is the list manager (maybe owner too but, technically ... ncsu owns it) ... unless i am mistaken and, she is not to blame for ANYthing ... in fact, over certain episodes ... she has shown (far more than i would have) REMARKABLE patience ...
penn state manages some 350 lists ... and, i have no idea if we have ever insisted on the "lack of spam" that appears to be the situation in jackie's case ...
but, since it does appear that the edstat list is in jeopardy ... i think we should do what we can to hold on to it ... and, it seems like making it ONLY available to subscribers is the best way to accomplish that ...
