It is not clear if a vote has been called for, but if asked to vote,
I would choose the subscription-only option.
Moderation should be done by a panel, in my opinion, but since there
do not appear to be any volunteers to share the task of moderation,
it seems impractical.
I long ago stopped looking at any Usenet newsgroups, but have been
subscribed to edstat-l since the early nineties, and continue to
appreciate the rare gems that it delivers to my desktop occasionally
It is possible that edstat-l might wither and die as a pure mailing
list, and that the Usenet connection has been its lifeblood: If that
is the case, then since the choice has been forced upon us, we shall
have to accept it.
