I'm looking for some good material to use for SPC training. The material can be print or computer material that we use with an internal instructor or video material. We prefer not to bring in an outside instructor since we need to train people in multiple locations and we need to offer the training frequently.
I want the training to at least cover these topics or concepts: 1) Basic philosophy of SPC--concepts of variability, etc. 2) Chart interpretation rules--I don't want our people to get bogged down in the 14 General Electric rules when two basic rules will give us all the signals we can handle for now. 3) Basic chart types--Xbar/R charts and charts of individuals will handle almost all our needs. I have little use for p-charts, c-charts, u-charts, EWMA charts, or cusum charts. If I read my Donald Wheeler correctly, Xbar/R and XmR charts will handle at least 90% of my needs. 4) New limit calculation rules: When do we need to recalculate control limits? When signals are given in a chart and corrective action is taken, should the data giving the signal be used to calculate any subsequent new limits? Etc. We already have SPC software in place--we just need some SPC training that can be customized to be train managers, engineers, technical people, and operators. Any web sites or literature you can point me to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
