When you get beyond a simple trend line or a simple weighted average with equal weights... go to TUCOWS or DOWNLOAD.COM and search for FreeFore to supplement the simplistic and presumptive approaches of shoehorning data into a model. Let the data speak in order to identify the appropriate model. It incorporates automatic ARIMA modelling plus Intervention Detection plus Transfer Functions. You can even specify your own model including Holt-Winters.
