We want to do some analysis/forecasting on customer activities, but
are not sure how to proceed. Here's the issue:
Our company is a utility company with 16 customer service centers
(including both walk-in and call centers) statewide. If we shut down
one center, what kind of impact would it have on the rest of the
service centers, to be specific, for the customer that used to go the
to-be closed service center, where would they go for their service
needs after the center is closed? Based on the historic data, the
center to be closed had about 4000 customer visits each month. So, the
issue is where those 4000 visits would go after the close of the
center?

We have some data available such as what activities those 4000 visits
are and where the customer live, etc., and certainly can collect more
data for whatever analysis we do, but we are not sure how to use the
data to forecast the activities with one center taken out of the
picture.

Any ideas and advices are greatly appreciated. What kind of
statistical analysis would this be called?

Thanks.

Dan
