Oh, I don't know; (b) might be of interest in bridge, and (c) in

b) is definitely of interest in bridge, but the guy who gave me the
problem is a bridge expert, and he's interested in it for the Chinese
game (the guy is also Chinese). I don't know of any poker games with 13
card hands, but you never know :-)

Re (c): does "in straight order" mean "ascending", or "descending",
or
"either ascending or descending"? (I'm assuming that the sequence
{2,3,4,5,6} satisfies (c), for ascending order, but that the sequence
{5,2,4,6,3} would not, for either order.)

I was assuming that he didn't care about the order in which they were
dealt, just the 'straightness' e.g. 13 cards as follows would work I
also didn't ask him if A is high or low, or both....
