Yes, I'd generally expect older laptops to have a floppy drive - mine does. And I'd be happy to install anything on the hard drive, especially if it's GNU/Linux.
Problem is that Etherboot (rom-o-matic etc) seems not to support PCMCIA (yet), although I think it may come sometime. Thanks, Rick.
