Great! The directions on: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LTSPLocalAppsJaunty got me through the task of setting up firefox as a localapp. The directions include setting up other apps as well. I'd recommend not making the experimental chroot (steps 1 and 2) as it makes things more difficult. You might want to check out installing Firefox 3.5 as needed, though. My server's a bit messed up due to some other issues right now, but that page was very helpful.
As I mention on the page above, you know firefox has opened up in the local terminal because in the title bar of the window it will end saying something like: ltsp 23 or whatever the address of the client is.
