I haven't yet seen a single case where NBD compression caused problems. But I've seen numerous cases where NBD compression made *another* problem move obvious, due to the data validation it does. E.g. bad RAM, bad network etc may cause hangs once in a while if you have compression == off, and may cause them more frequently with compression == on, but the problem of course isn't the compression itself. @John Hupp: remove "quiet splash plymouth:force-splash vt.handoff=7" from /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/pxelinux.cfg/default in order to better see any boot problems.
