Subject: [eeepc-discuss] SNV_97 fails to boot on EeePC 900

Hi!

OK. I did the big mistake of updating my working SNV_96 on my EeePC 900
to 97... and now, when grub starts, it directly goes into the GRUB
prompt... and nothing works.

I've tried a fresh install as well... (puting the SD card into a
Toshiba, installing OSol SNV 97 on it and then booting that on the
EeePC) to no avail.

Ideas?

==================

Did you install on SD card or internal SDD ?
I've noticed that the installer sometimes fails to write to USB SD or SDHC
cards.
I successfully installed 2008.05 on an 8 GB SDHC card but failed to install
2008.11
on a 16 GB SDHC card from the same brand.
It looks like the drivers solaris uses during install and grub/boot is
different from the drivers loaded post-install in full operation as these
cards could be formatted and written to without problem after the install.
I finally had to install the 2008.11 on the internal SDD.

I even tried an external USB card reader with the 16 GB SDHC card plugged in
and I managed to get everything written during the install but attempting
to reboot from this 16 GB SDHC card failed and I ended up with grub
command prompt.

Regards,

/Karl D
