This is one of the "EFW is dead" standard-threads that are opened every
2-3 months, but i'm glad to see that at least Mike understood what Open
Source really means, kudos! :)

Just a short answer to Alberto: i think you should be a bit more
diplomatic, you can't open a "The project is dead?" thread, state that
you're forking the project and then e-mail us privately asking help
doing that expecting an answer. If you do that with any other Project
you probably get the same answers... i.e. we never got an answer on the
IPCop mailing list when we said that we're working on a fork and would
like to collaborate with them and to be honest i can understand it ;)

Some thoughts to what Mike said: well, i'm really glad to see that there
are still some people that got the Open Source philosophy, thanks for
that! :) We really appreaciate that and i think we could collaborate
more closely.
As Mike mentioned it is really hard to start an Open Source company and
making money. It's our job and without money we can't eat... ;) If we
could we would release
*everything* but don't forget that we have to bring together both worlds:

The Community = give me more! i want updates! i want everything for free!
The Customers = what is my added value? do i really need updates? why
should i pay for that?

So we need to find a good trade-off between both worlds. Endian is not
Red Hat, we're small and don't have such a strong brand right now, but
we're on the right way. Just let us and help us doing our job, so we'll
get the best Open Source UTM Software :) As soon as it's possible we'll
release almost everything, but first of that we need to get our reward
for 3+ Years of development.

We already promised that the SVN will be opened, but have to do some
SVN-refactoring before that and we didn't have the time until now, i
think we'll do that in mid-October. In October we'll start selling the
Enterprise Version worldwide, so we're focusing on that...

In the beginning of October a new release of the Community version will
be available, that has some cool features (like Software-RAID1
out-of-the-box ;), bugfixes and security updates. So stay tuned! :)

I hope that answers some of your questions.
