Stephane:

The cards where previously running on an ipcop setup (1.4.15), with out any
problems, i've used those cards since ipcop 1.4.1, have done several upgrades
and fresh installs on them without any problems.

Changing cards is not a problem on one of my installations, but I have around
15 installations with at least one firewall and at least 2 nics on each, so
changing nics on all, would represent some investment.

i used one : changing network cards... I had some old isa 3c509 Nics,
and keep having trouble with them, even if they were "auto conf", or
"manually configurated"... For a few €, i decided not to have any
probleme and buy only 8139 chip cards, that are cheap and quite
efficient... i know it doesn't answer your question, but 3com is quite a
nightmare for my ipcop/endian config usually...
