No... Fakeraid is much worse then software raid. Linux software raid is very stable and mature, and works beautifully. The fake raid controllers are usually first generation or beta drivers, or worse, reverse engineered windows drivers. Most aren't that stable, and usually are more processor intensive because of the lack of driver optimizations. The dmraid system is a little better, but is still quite new, and not as stable as I would like.On Thu, April 24, 2008 13:22, Marco Gabriel wrote:as far as I know, there is no hardware compatibility list. but you can just have a look in /boot/config to see which hardware drivers are built into the kernel and which are available as kernel modules. If you don't want to install one, I'm happy to send you the current config, if you give me a short notice.a config would be nice... I'll have the admin try to boot the ISO, but that way I can check in advance (the machine is 500km away now, since our first try with IPCop failed ;))My guess would be that the ICH9 wouldn't be a problem, but the LSI Megaraid will. the LSI Megaraid are some fake raid controllers who need their own drivers to work as raid and these drivers are only available for windows or special linux/unix distributions/versions.hm, I thought so... otoh, I found the sources for the kernel drivers at the LSI site and have been able to add them to the IPCops build image. Would that also be possible with Endian? How is the build process based? (LFS it ins with IPCop)If you don't care about hardware raid, you could just use the LSI megaraid as a standard controller and let the endian take care of your raid because endian can handle multiple hardddisks as software raid.since a fake hardware raid is as good as a software raid, I would gladly disable it... just have to check if that's possible at all...
OpenVPN 2.0.9 including SSL/LZO/EPOLL in 2.2beta.is it true that 2.2 is due for May 8th?With the endian community version, you can use the free OpenVPN-GUI Client.good to hear that...
