The way I have dealt w/ this is to use an internal DNS server to redirect my
requests so they are not going out to come back in.

If your Endian box is your DNS server, it is quite easy to do. Just go to the
Network tab and add a hosts entry for your machine. This way, when you try to
get to whatever the domain is, you will be given the private IP when on your
LAN.

I realize that this is not an answer to your question... It's just how I've
solved this problem in the past.

Subject: [Efw-user] Can't access local http server using public URL/IP.

I'm not sure how to describe this but here we go. I run a web server that
sits behind my Endian firewall. The web server is on a private IP so all
port 80 traffic is forwarded from the WAN into it's private IP on the LAN.
I am able to access this server using it's private IP and from anywhere
outside my network using the public URL/IP of the Endian box. I am not,
however, able to get to it from withing the network when I use the public
URL/IP. The request simply times out. Is there a rule that I need to
add/change to be able to allow this? I have a rule currently that allows
the GREEN interface access to everything on the RED but this doesn't seem to
get it. I apologize if this has already been asked....but I was unable to
find anything relating to this. I should probably note that I am running
2.2RC3. Thanks for you help!
