I went thru a few days worth of the clamav logs and there's
no error messages of any kind, and no events are occurring
around the same time p3scan scans start to fail. The only
errors that mention p3scan are in /var/log/messages.

The only other errors I can find are these crashes in
/var/log/havp/access.logs and havp.logs:

and

I have no way to know if they're related.

Is it possible to enable a log for p3scan?

p3scan should be running off clamdscan so if it is failing
on that
then make sure clamd is running and working. [Try running
clamdscan
on the command line against a small text file.]

Clam logs are in /var/log/clamav/

That might help track it down. I've not had problem with it
but that
doesn't mean something is not messed up.
