Nagios is a monitoring tool that is quite well supported and functional.  The
following websites are great to find out any capabilities of the application...

http://www.nagiosexchange.org
Nagios Exchange hosts most of the plugins available for the app.  I havent
checked if there are any asterix specific plugins, but if it can be found via
SNMP is can probably be reported via Nagios.  I use Nagios in conjunctions with
Nagvis and Cacti.
