My guess is that it's both - a bug and a routing issue, at least as far
as routing internally in the host is concerned.  I didn't read the bug
report, I only opened up access to the RED interface and didn't look
back.

Yes, I am aware of this. Perhaps I read the bug report incorrectly? I
guess
my point is that this bug report did not appear to address the issue I
see.
If I ping the green adapter of the firewall acting as the tunnel client,
while I am sitting in the green zone of the firewall acting as the vpn
server, I get no reply. However, if I am sitting in the green zone of
the
firewall acting as the tunnel client, and ping the green adapter of the
firewall acting as the vpn server, I do get a reply.

Are you saying this is perhaps a routing issue?
