I think the original openvpn issue is definitley affecting the routing. So
yes there seems to be two issues going. If you look at the pings i have in
the bug report to a internal address after connecting via vpn, the opendns
ip's show up (since i am using opendns for external browsing). 

I can however ping the green interface ip locally and from a vpn connection.
