Hi Kai,
You could always try out IAS 4.02 and JBuilder 3.5 Enterprise Edition both
work on Linux and are freely available under an evaluation period of 60
days. To obtain a copy either go to the inprise web site www.inprise.com or
contact you local inprise office and ask them to mail you an evaluation CD.
The evaluation CD contains alot of nice goodies including JDataStore
<jdatastore-marketing>
As a Pure Java DBMS, JDataStore delivers true platform independence and
portability, enabling developers to create, deploy, and support applications
that reach the market faster and at a lower total cost of ownership. With
its small footprint, virtually zero administration, and top performance,
JDataStore provides developers with an optimum solution for embedded, Web,
and mobile database applications.

The database will come in handy when using Entity beans since IAS which
automatically generate tables for your deployed beans if you do not specify
another database.
kind regards
William Louth
