If these methods qualify as business methods, then making them static is
explicitly prohibited in the 1.1 public draft for both session and entity
beans.  The EB prohibition is in section 9.2.6.  It is not clear, however,
that they do qualify as business methods, since they are not defined in the
remote interface.
