Yes, it is true. Check EJB1.1 Draft 3 p134:
"The Bean Provider must ensure that the Java types assigned to the
container-managed fields are
restricted to the following: Java primitive types, Java serializable
types, and references of
enterprise beans� remote or home interfaces."

With a 1-N relationship make the N-side point to the 1 side (i.e.
standard RDBMS schema rules apply).

It doesn't say anything about having java.util.Vectors of remote
references. Strictly speaking the spec allows this since Vector is
serializable and would only contain EJB remote references (i.e. allowed
types), but I doubt that this is the intent of the spec authors.
