You make a good case for why there will be no alternative vendors of
COM+. That doesn't really say why EJB - the technology or the vendors
- will prevail. Free software can be devastating to those trying to
make a living selling software in the same market, and that will
likely be a profound challenge for EJB vendors to overcome.
Fortunately, there is a market for solutions that span other than
Windows platforms, so EJB vendors are not likely to be driven out of
town by the offer of a free component framework.
