I am not convinced that it is critical that a single VM be the host for
multiple containers. Perhaps I have a twisted view because GemStone/J is a
clustered VM approach?
I do see that it is important that a single machine be able to host multiple
containers though.
It's an issue with implementations which run all clients in the same VM, and rely on
everything being in the same VM to maintain
coherency. Also, the underlying communications subsystem needs to be multi-homed
aware, which is a problem for a lot of subsystems.
I believe JavaSoft's RMI pretty much chokes on multi-homed systems.
