RMI is the default interface for distributed objects in Java (i.e. the method
signatures). However, the underlying implementation/protocol
is not specified in the EJB spec. So you could use RMI that runs on top of IIOP,
DCOM, or smoke signals {if they support pass-by-value} :-)
The default RMI implementation that comes with Sun's JDK uses JRMP (or classic RMI).
However, other vendors have implemented their own. For example, WebLogic uses
TengahRMI
(or something to that effect).
