Yes, it would die a slow death if it was installed in an EJB server that
was bad. The wonder of server vendor differentiation.
If IBM has come to the conclusion that their customers most common
applications would have the best performance by doing it the way they
do, then fine, let them. If another vendor, such as OrionServer that I'm
using, comes to the conclusion that another strategy works better, then
let them.
And then I, as the supreme customer that I am, can choose which one I
think fit best for my specific application. If they all did everything
the same way, why the heck wouldn't I just choose the least expensive
one?
And what if the way everybody does it doesn't fit me? I would be rather
upset then.
I think the EJB spec is great the way it is, because it is loose and
tight at the same time. Many ways to implement it, and still be
compliant with the spec.
What you really want from a really advanced and expensive server is for
it to implement ALL strategies so that you can choose which one you want
use at deployment time. That's the ideal way to do it. IMHO etc.
