Agreed. However, some of the features on the datasheet are not present (yet) in
the real product (for example, the CMP support for multiple tables and multiple
databases).
I am currently evaluating the persistence in IAS and other EJB servers
(currently only Weblogic 5.0 beta), and I'm really impressed with the
capabilities of IAS. It's perhaps the more mature EJB 1.1 compliant server out
there, and it's worth giving it a try.

I think everything is pure Java, except for some small parts like the osagent.

On their download page, I saw that it was also available fro RedHat Linux, and
that more platforms are coming.
