CTM = Component Transaction Monitor
CTMS = Many CTMs?
CTM stands for Component Transaction Monitor and is used to categorize
technologies like EJB, Microsoft's MTS, and CORBA's CCM. It was coined in early
in 1999 by Anne Thomas of the Patricia Seybold Group. Other terms abound
including component transaction server, distributed component server, COMware,
etc. Personally I prefer CTM and that is what I use in O'Reilly EJB book.
