Hi Rickard,
Well I was evaluating Cocobase for weblogic and found that it does not
support WLS 5.1 --- does Toplink has support for that?? We want to use CMPs
to speed up our developement. Now when we use a product like Toplink ---
what advantages do we get over the normal CMP ie WLS will automatically do
the persistence for me --- so with CMP do we really gain anything using
Toplink??? Also I had this question in my mind --- While using cocobase I
found that it generates the code for entity bean and in the ejbstore,
ejbcreate, ejbremove and ejbload methods it has embedded it own code for
database access code --- now when this bean gets deployed in the WLS --- how
does Toplink/Cocobase tell the conatiner ---- "hey dont do the persistence
for the bean -- I am taking care of that!!!". This is one thing which is not
becomong clear to me --- and hence I am not getting the advantage of using
tools like Toplink when using CMP.
Any help appreciated.
TIA
Anamitra

The EJB-specification does not tell you how CMP implementations store
objects in a database. If you do not want them to be stored as BLOB's I
suggest that you use a server with CMP-support that does proper
O/R-mapping.
<vendor>
Using TOPLink with WebLogic Server would be such a configuration.
