if I understand you correctly, you have an ejbserver that only lets you
specify the WHERE clause of the finder query. that's a problem of the ejb
server and not inherent to cmp. there are servers (like orion or ejipt and
probably many more) that let you define whatever sql you like for your
finders while you still benefit from the optimizations of cmp like result
set caching. if you don't have that possibility, I agree that's very
limiting and annoying since it's not harder to implement for the appserver
vendor than the simple finders, just a little more responsibility on the
developer's side (which I like).
