Hi
There is a problem here as neither Toplink or CocoBase has compliance with
weblogic server 5.1 --- they dont have any beta also. So those who are going
for ejb 1.1 and Weblogic will be forced to use BMP.

Your success with CMP will be directly tied to whose container you're using.

The last phase should end with "...the container I'm using shows it's
limitations".
We're using TopLink for WebLogic and although it's not perfect, it can
support
very complex finders, across classes (and their underlying tables) without
even
having to write the join. While it may be appealing to strong coders to use
BMP
because it provides "total control", the nearly daily postings on this list
with
questions about how to implement the various EntityBean methods, provides
strong
evidence that control comes at a high price.
I admit that I don't fully understand the nuances of what to handle in the
finders and what to do in ejbLoad(). I'm oblivious to passivation and
activation issues. I'm very pleased that I don't have to be concerned with
such
low-level issues. I'd rather concentrate on cranking out more and more
robust
beans in support of the business problem.

Subject: Implementing using CMP quickly runs in to limitation...
I started to implement my system using CMP Entity Beans. However, the
minute I needed to execute a JOIN in order to implement one of the finder
methods, I realized that I have a problem. It seems, that CMP is only good
for TRIVIAL object relationships. The minute a query needs to JOIN from
more than one table in order to execute the find, CMP shows it's
limitations. This means, that for all but the simplest of objects, I need
to use BMP (which appears to be much slower). Is this what most of you have
found? Am I missing something when it comes to CMP?
Thanks.
