Hello,
<vendor>
It does feel sort of odd to brag about being compatible with these tests. If
someone's not being compatible that's a serious bug that they will hopefully
sort out very quickly. However, here are the results using the Orion
Application Server: (I was using the latest official release 0.9.6).
Support for int PASSED
Support for int[] PASSED
Support for String PASSED
Support for String[] PASSED
Support for EJBObject PASSED
Support for EJBHome PASSED
Support for Vector(1) PASSED
Support for Vector(2) PASSED
Ran 156/156 tests: 100.0%
Skipped 0/156 tests: 0.0%
Passed 156/156 tests: 100.0%
Failed 0/156 tests: 0.0%
There's a weakness in your test though. You're distributing the EJB as java
files and xml deployment descriptor. To really test interoperability, do it the
proper way. Make an .ear containing the compiled EJB and Client and deploy the
.ear in all the servers and see if it works by just pointing the server to the
ear. That is the real interoperability test for using J2EE components in
different application servers.
I prepared an .ear that's ready to use. I used your classes and ejb-jar.xml and
built the .ear using J2EE RI (but removed the RI specific things). Just plug it
in and go. In Orion, all you have to do to deploy it is to point the server to
the path of the .ear.
To spare everyone on the list who's not interested, I will not attach the 12 k
ear, but I made it available at:
http://www.orionserver.com/inprisechallenge/rmitest.ear
Here is the new list, with support for the test packaged as a real J2EE
application added.
Orion Application Server 0.9.6: 100% - J2EE Enterprise Archive
supported
Sun's Reference Implementation: 100% - J2EE Enterprise Archive
supported
Bluestone Software EJB 1.1 Server: 100%
Unify eWave Engine 1.1b: 100%
Inprise Application Server version 4.0: 100%
BEA's WebLogic Server version 4.51: 99.3%
BEA's WebLogic Server version 5.0.0b2 (T3): 99.3%
Persistence's PowerTier 5.12: 70.5%
IONA's iPortal: 58.3%
I haven't seen any other servers claim support for J2EE Enterprise Archives,
but I hope they will support it. Being able to distribute an archive like this
containing EJBs, JSPs, Servlets, Clients, etc. will mean very much. Of course,
for an application this small, a few source files isn't a big problem but for a
real appliation...
