<vendor stuff>

JBuilder has the ability to Debug and Remote debug Java 2 vms, which include
IAS, WL, J2EE Ref Impl. It runs on Linux, Solaris and NT. Our debugger uses
the new JPDA, and has advanced features such as debugging Thread deadlock.

The openness in the way that JBuilder has been designed means that nothing
"special" has to be done to debug different servers with classpath settings
etc. You simply just configure and fire up the VM.

The open tools api in jbuilder can also be used if you wanted to integrate
other tools.

IAS specific features include Inprise Deployment Descriptor Support, and IAS
4.0 deployment wizard support

As mentioned generic EJB support includes integrated 1.1 Deployment
Descriptor editor, Home/Remote interface generation. Some JBuilder features
that are of use to EJB developers include the Deployment wizard, which picks
up dependencies, and the debugger. It also has an integrated JavaWebServer
which is used to debug and run JSP and Servlets.

Previously the WL docs had quite a large section on JBuilder, but I suspect
that it has probably been removed :-). JBuilder supports the JavaBeans spec
so can use any standard JavaBeans etc. that are provided by your ejb vendor.

</vendor stuff>

kind regards,

-Rob

I looked at a paper from BEA regarding 'ideal toolsets'. They mention
JBuilder but only briefly, and it does not appear to have any particular
'integration' with Weblogic. JBuilder does provide some wizards for
generating Beans (XML descriptors, Home/Remote interfaces etc).

Perhaps other JBuilder gurus out there may be able to comment on the
other JBuilder EJB-specific features?

paul.
