I can do the same thing using Kawa and the J2EE Reference Implementation!

It is quite simple, very well documented in an IBM redbook. Afte you write
the EJB, deploying it and test it with the auto-generated test client is a
couple of clicks away.
It is also documented in the VAJ manuals.
