Remember, that last sentence was a Sybase developer... 8-)
I hesitate to respond, because I don't use websphere,
but instead work on plumbing underneath it.
Based on my discussion with the websphere team,
I'm pretty sure this is just a support statement from
Websphere.
When I asked them, they thought it should work and
the first question was 'What driver are you using?'
Websphere has been tested fully on those databases, therefore,
those are the ones that are officially supported, remember
Websphere does a lot of SQL on its own, and some gets generated.
Some of it must change for different databases, and in some
cases special SQL must be used. If your DB doesn't support
this, OR we didn't test it, the JDBC driver doesn't really
matter, Websphere market drones probably won't let us
say that Websphere supports that particular DB.
That's how our support statements work.
In my experience:
Other vendors may say they support it, when you try
to run it with JDBC driver xyz that doesn't work exactly right,
they will say, oh, that won't work, its the drivers fault.
IBM is conservative that way, and we try to test everything
we say we support, when technically it may work anyway.
