Hello,

I'm given the task of making an existing Java project EJB-enabled, now I
wonder what the best approach is. Since I'm quite new to EJB myself,
maybe anyone can give me some tips?
I have the following concrete questions:
1. How to model inheritence with EJB? I know the bean class can inherit
from other classes, but the Remote interface, which is the only thing
the client sees, cann't. So how am I supposed to build say a "Factory"
for EJB, in which the client ask for a super class and get a subclass
object back? This issue is never mentioned in any EJB book on the
market, maybe somehow I got it completely wrong?

2. The Java objects that are passed around by EJB have to be RMI/IIOP
compatible, right? Would it be enough to simply add "implements
Serializable" to everyone of these objects, or some more care has to be
taken?

3. Generally, is it possible/feasible to build an EJB layer on top of
existing Java framework, so that one could switch back and forth, or
does the EJB have to be built in?

Our timeline is already pressing, so any hints or advices would be most
appreciated, and many thanks in advance!

best regards
ZHU Jia
