I humbly suggest that if you are waiting on UML before diving into JBoss code then you may want to reconsider whether you want to dive into JBoss code at all. JBoss is a fine offering, but you will find that in JBoss Code is King. Documentation is sparse--all documentation: user, javadoc, source code, let alone UML or specs.
The JBoss team does, however, strive to make the code flow readable and is more successful at this than most Open Source projects. JBoss also offers documentation for purchase, which I understand is useful, and a book is forthcoming. Cf. www.jboss.org for details.
