EJB 2.0 is fully compatible with EJB 1.1. As you have rightly pointed out
that this is not possible with cmp-version 2.x model it is possible with
cmp-version 1.x model both a part of EJB 2.0. All EJB 2.0 containers have to
support 1.1 beans. Infact it is possible to package 1.1 beans in a 2.0 jar.

This will depend on the server you use. Typically the server will require
you to map the Address referene to a binary column. The container in this
case will perisist the stub or the handle.
