No. EJB 2.0 servers are required to provide support for RMI-IIOP, but they may support other protocols as well. RMI-IIOP does not have to be the 'default' protocol either (if that term even means anything). > 2. Is it true that the history of EJBs goes back to 1997 ? Yes, the first product that supported EJB (version 0.4) was Sybase EAServer - this product (originally named Jaguar CTS) shipped in December 1997. > ... oh yes of course! EJB 1.1 requires the use of RMI-IIOP reference and argument types when accessing enterprise beans from a client. EJB 1.1 servers are NOT required , however , to use IIOP as the distributed object protocol. Does EAServer allow for embedded and remote calls in the same way as OpenEJB ? I guess after so many years of development and involvement in EJBs it must be up to scratch ? Do you provide a full development kit if so Where can I get hold of the EASERVER ?
