I doubt that you can. EJB-QL is a minimalistic variation on SQL. And even standard SQL does not provide a way to do what you are asking. Some databases allow that but the syntax and limits of use vary by database vendor. Your only choice would be to use SQL directly. If you can mix BMP and CMP in the same entity then you could do this by having one method do SQL and the rest not. (I am not sure if you can do this.)
