Hi Manoj, You will get some valuable hints by searching for resource-env-ref and resource-ref in the J2EE 1.3. specification. This generally a good place to look for information about J2EE deployment. Administered objects are objects that are administered and hosted by some external tool, like JMS queues and topics. All resource-manager type of references should be defined using resource-ref (like DataSource, QueueConnectionFactory, TopicConnectionFactory and all types of connector-specific connection factories).

My doubt is regarding the <resource-env-ref> and <resource-ref> tags which appear under the <wab-app> tag. Actually i am not able to segregate between the resources , which should go under <resource-env-ref> and which should go in <resource-ref>. I have gone through the dtd documentation available at http://java.sun.com/dtd/web-app_2_2.dtd and it says that resource-env-ref is for administred objects and and resource-ref is for external objects. But it does not give any way to classify the resources as external or administred objects. Any document or help in this regard!!!!!!!!!
